I'm a 19 year old advertising major currently in my second year at the Ontario College of Art and Design. I'm just learning what it is to create advertisements, and work with photoshop- a program which scared me beyond belief just 8 short months ago. I pride myself in my strong work ethic and ability to self-motivate. I'm a pretty silly person and try not to take everything too seriously, although that can get difficult sometimes.
Being an advertising student is challenging, but I love to see the results of projects that actually mean something. These projects mean a stronger portfolio, gained knowledge of how the advertising business works, as well as a hands-on creation of the ads themselves. They allow everyone to find where they fit in the advertising world, and for me I found that to be copy.
I never thought I would enjoy writing copy when I started at OCAD. To me, advertising was all about that shiny picture that told a story and captured attention. As I completed project after project, I found that strong copy was also needed to complete the story. A story and words? Who would have thought- right? Anyways, even though I have always been driven by more traditional art and the value of a great visual, writing copy has become my main focus and where I always start when making an advertisement.
The point of all this you may ask? Oh, I was getting to it. The point is, I'm now looking for a summer internship with an advertising agency. I think it would really push me further into the advertising world, and give me expiri
ence that I cannot gain from school alone. This was just a little bit about me, but you can learn even more by visiting my jcquln pages.
